Karl Rice, a 28-year-old resident of Weston and a former Missouri State Highway Patrol officer, became the second person to file for the Democratic nomination for sheriff of Platte County in the 1976 primary election. Rice, a five year veteran of the Highway Patrol and a former police officer at Lake Waukomis, is presently self-employed in the construction business.


Ralph Wittmeyer was appointed last Thursday night to fill the vacancy on the Platte County R-3 School Board which was created by the resignation of Jack Coots.

The Platte County Democratic Convention will be held Tuesday, May 11, 1976 at the middle school in Platte City, says Roland Giffee, chairperson of the Platte County Democratic Central Committee.
