arl Rice, a 28-year-old resident of Weston and a former Missouri State Highway Patrol officer, became the second person to file for the Democratic nomination for sheriff of Platte County in the 1976 primary election. Rice, a five year veteran of the Highway Patrol and a former police officer at Lake Waukomis, is presently self-employed in the construction business.
Ralph Wittmeyer was appointed last Thursday night to fill the vacancy on the Platte County R-3 School Board which was created by the resignation of Jack Coots.
