Mr. and Mrs. Allen Buxton of Weston announce the birth of their daughter, Valerie Sue, on Sunday, Feb. 22, 1976 at St. John Hospital in Leavenworth. Mrs. Buxton formerly worked at Bobbi’s Hair Fashions in Platte City.


Doug Hunt, Platte County R-3 High School junior who lives in rural Platte City, arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa on Jan. 25 to spend a year as a participant of the American Field Service-Americans Abroad Program.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, 1976, Karl D. Rice of Weston was honored by the City of Lake Waukomis with a “Key to the City” award. This award was presented to Rice by Mayor Robert Hershey on behalf of the city, in grateful appreciation for his service and dedication while serving as a Lake Waukomis police officer.


Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd D. Martin of Parkville announce the birth of their son, Jason Grant Martin, at Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville on Feb. 11, 1976. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Moore, Smithville, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Darwin W. Martin of Kansas City, Mo.


Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Boyer spent last weekend with their daughter, Mrs. Robert Fawks and Mr. Fawks at Enid, Oklahoma.
