Edgerton’s City Hall is expected to remain closed four to six weeks following a suspected arson fire on Thursday, City Clerk Sandra Masoner said this week. Fire departments and state officials believe the fire was deliberately set with a flammable liquid. Firemen were called to the scene about 7:30 a.m. and had the blaze under control in a half hour. The city clerk said all of her records and equipment were saved and she will continue to take care of city business from her home until City Hall is repaired.

The Lady Pirates finished the KCI Conference portion of their schedule on a winning note with a 60-52 victory over West Platte Friday at Weston. Meanwhile, a last second shot from near mid-court lifted the West Platte Blue Jays to a 52-50 victory over the Platte County Pirates in the boys game. It was a loss that cost the Pirates a share of the KCI Conference championship.
