On Monday, July 15, a Community Town Hall Forum at the Parkville Living Center will feature presentations pro and con on Platte County’s proposed jail tax (questions 1 and 2 on the Aug. 6 ballot).

Social time begins at 6 p.m. and the forum will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Parkville Living Center is located at 816 Main Street, Parkville. This is a free event.

Platte County is proposing a new half cent sales tax for 20 years to expand the Platte County Jail to 471 inmate beds. The tax would generate more than $400 million over 20 years for construction and operation of the new jail. It would be the largest tax increase in the history of Platte County.
