A few days after being placed on paid administrative leave, Chuck Reineke has resigned as executive director of the Platte County Regional Sewer District. Reineke had served in the post since the district’s inception in 1992. During a closed session of the sewer district board of trustees last Wednesday, board members voted 3-1 to place Reineke on leave “until such time the full board can meet with Ron Spradley.” Spradley is special legal counsel the sewer board has used at times when its regular counsel, Bob Shaw, has had a conflict of interest. Deb Hammond made the motion to place Reineke on leave and Aaron Jung seconded the motion. Jim Plunkett joined Hammond and Jung in voting in favor of the action. Valerie McCaw voted against. Lewis Sanders, board chairman, was absent. Hammond and Sanders on Tuesday afternoon both confirmed that Reineke has resigned “effective immediately.”

The bad news: Cash Saver grocery store in Platte City will soon be closing its doors. The good news: An ALPS grocery store will be opening in the Cash Saver location at 305 Marshall Road. Cash Saver is in the process of conducting a liquidation sale.
