Ready is from a career military family, having grownup in Germany and Texas. A Vietnam era Army veteran, John served five years in research and development at the National Security Agency.

Ready went on to earn a master’s in business administration from Grace College, and recently retired from management at Evergy as a project planner with 30 years of service.

John and his family have lived in Missouri for 45 years, the last 20 here in Platte County.

While and his family lived near St. Joseph, he served in elected office with Andrew County’s Country Club Village, where he served both as chairman of the board of trustees and with the planning and zoning committee.

All three of their children graduated from Savannah school and Missouri colleges, with two having gone on to earn upper level degree in their respective fields.

His wife is a retired math teacher, and both find themselves busy with their local church.

There are three candidates for two open school board seats at R-3. In addition to Ready of Platte City, other candidates are Shawn Chiddix of Kansas City in zip code 64153 and Alisha Elliott of Kansas City in zip code 64155.
