PLATTE CITY MAN, 70, WAS ONE OF THE DRIVERS
Four people were hurt–one of them seriously–in a four vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in Platte County.
The crash happened about 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 just north of Tiffany Springs. It occurred when a 2018 International bus driven by a Platte City man, 70-year-old Carlton C. Lyon, struck the rear of two vehicles, according to the crash report.
According to the report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the bus crashed into the rear of a 2018 Nissan and a Volkswagen Tiguan. The Volkswagen then struck the rear of a Toyota RAV 4.
The driver of the Volkswagen was seriously hurt. She is identified as Kelli K. McGlothlin, 42, of St. Joseph. She was transported to North Kansas City Hospital. The Volkswagen suffered extensive damage, according to the report.
The Nissan, which suffered extensive damage, was driven Roxana M. Perez Lara, 26, of St. Joseph. She suffered minor injures and was taken to North Kansas City Hospital.
The Toyota RAV4 was driven by Dustin D. Guest, 39, of Kansas City. He was not injured. His vehicle suffered moderate damage.
Two juveniles, both 13-year-old males, in the International bus suffered minor injuries and were taken to Children’s Mercy by private vehicle.
The damage to the bus was listed as moderate.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department and the Kansas City Police Department.
