Platte County Parks and Recreation announces upcoming closures along the Prairie Creek Greenway (PCG) trail system in Platte City, as part of a planned resurfacing project.

As one of Platte County’s earliest trail projects, the PCG trail surface has reached the end of its service life and is in need of significant improvements.

Platte County has entered into a contract with Superior Bowen to resurface the trail system, enhancing safety and user experience. This investment will help ensure the trail remains in good condition for the next 20 years.

Work is scheduled to begin this spring and continue throughout the spring.

During this time, sections of the trail will be temporarily closed.

In addition to the resurfacing project, a second trail project will begin soon to expand connectivity. Platte County has partnered with Julius Kaaz Construction Company to construct a new trail connection from 136th Street, running along the east side of Running Horse Road, and connecting directly to the Platte County Community Center North.

Park users are encouraged to plan accordingly and use caution near active work zones.
