Tiyarn Burks, accused of robbing the United Metro Phillips 66 gas station in Platte City in December, has been denied a bond reduction request. A preliminary hearing was held for Burks, 19, of Kansas City, Kan. last week in Platte County Circuit Court. The court found probably cause and arraignment was set for Thursday, March 14 9 a.m. in Platte County Circuit Court.


A fire on a pole caused about 4,000 Missouri Public Service electric customers in northern Platte County to be without service for several hours Wednesday morning. The fire occurred on a pole in the 25 KV feeder line that goes into Platte City. The outage, which started about 12:30 a.m., affected customers in Platte City, Weston, Farley, Tracy, Faucett, Dearborn, Edgerton and nearby rural areas.
