Mike Miller took a break from operating his new pharmacy office in the Heartland Health building on Running Horse Road Monday morning to receive a proclamation from Platte City Mayor Frank Offutt declaring Miller Professional Pharmacy Day. After 21 years service to the community at its old location on Marshall Road, Miller Pharmacy’s move is one of the latest economic development activities along Platte City’s business corridor. Citing the need to expand to serve the growing community, Miler noted his pleasure with the new facility.

There was a short firework display inside an area City Hall on Sunday morning. Authorities are saying it appears a large firework was deposited into the drop box attached to Dearborn City Hall, causing damage to the interior of the building. Cpt. Erik Holland of the Platte County Sheriff’s Department said neighbors in the area reported the suspicious sound around 3:30 Sunday morning. Anything placed into the bill pay drop box slides inside the City Hall building, Holland said. “There’s some damage to the box itself and some damage to the inside of the building from the different pieces of the box that flew apart,” Holland said.
