Christmas came early this year for the Platte County Sheriff’s Department, which has received a donation of nearly $50,000 worth of equipment to help in its fight against drunk drivers, according to Sheriff Tom Thomas. The donation of equipment from the Missouri Division of Highway Safety includes a 1995 Ford F-250 van, fully customized as a Breath and Alcohol Testing or BAT vehicle. Also included in the donation is a Datamaster Breathalyzer; radio, siren and light bar; and a Docucam III or video camera system, all to help the deputies in their processing of drunk drivers.
