HE FACES THREE MISDEMEANOR CHARGES
A teacher/coach in the Park Hill School District faces three misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree assault after allegedly making a series of suggestive comments and allegedly engaging in physical contact such as hugs “knowing the victim would regard the contact as offensive,” according to court documents.
Isaiah Washington, 39, of Liberty, was charged by the Platte County Prosecutor’s Office last week. Washington is a physical education and coach at Walden Middle School. He was placed on administrative leave by the Park Hill School District as soon as staff was made aware of the allegations.
Court documents allege he engaged in acts “to purposefully cause emotional distress in several victims.”
Seven victims informed school officials that Washington allegedly made numerous comments about their bodies and their appearance. The incidents occurred from 2023 to 2025.
Allegations spelled out in court documents indicate Washington would often give the students hugs’ and several said Washington would place his hands low on their waist, which made them uncomfortable, according to court documents.
Washington allegedly referred to the students as “hot” and said things such as “you guys look pretty good today, especially in those leggings,” and “that outfit makes your body look really good,” according to the allegations filed by prosecutors.
One of the students told authorities that after hugs “you could visibly see that he was aroused,” and other students made similar statements, according to court documents.
One student told authorities that Washington did not touch her in “inappropriate ways” but said he always found a way to touch her. According to court documents, the student said she felt like Washington was her friend and she did not want him to be mad or treat her differently in class if she said no to his hugs.
Washington posted $7,500 bond and is no longer in custody. The online docket does not currently indicate when his next court appearance is scheduled.
