Mr. and Mrs. John D. George of Platte City announce the engagement of their daughter, Janine Marie, to Michael Toundas Cotter Ringwald, son of Patricia Ringwald of Lake St. Louis, Mo., and late Ralph C. Ringwald II. The future bride is a 1989 graduate of Platte County R-3 High School and a 1993 graduate of Central Missouri State University. She is currently employed at Capital Training Company in St. Louis. The future groom is a 1990 graduate of Wentzville, Mo. High School and a 1994 graduate of Central Missouri State University. He is currently employed at Mittler Brothers Machine and Tool in Foristell, Mo.


The children of Harold and Gladys Crowder of Kansas City, North will host the celebration of their parents’ 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 7 at Barry Masonic Lodge, 200 NW Barry Road, Kansas City. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Sixteen French exchange students arrived Saturday to spend 10 days in Platte City practicing their English skills and learning about American life. Accompanied by two teachers, the students are staying at the homes of R-3 School French Club members, students and personnel. The group will maintain a busy schedule including visiting St. Joseph, touring the Haskell Indian Institute, meeting with Mayor Cleaver, presenting panel discussions on life and schooling in France.
