Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brightwell celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on April 7 by going to the Marriott Hotel to dinner accompanied by Mrs. Elizabeth Maget. Bill and Anna Liese were married April 7, 1955 in Nurnberg, Germany while Bill was in the U.S. Army. They came back to Platte City in August 1955 and Bill finished his tour of duty in the United States.


St. Patrick’s Day, 1980, was the wedding day for Pamela J. Tholl and Kevin Broyles. They were married in Miami, Oklahoma and are living in Platte City. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tholl of Kansas City, North and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Broyles of Lenexa are the parents of the couple. Pam graduated from Platte County R-3 High School in 1978 and is employed at the National Federation of State High School Associations. Kevin is a 1975 graduate of Shawnee Mission North. He is employed by Trans World Airlines.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Tinder have been appointed to lead local volunteers in a special event in Platte City for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation again this year and express appreciation to merchants, participants and helpers of the CF Bike-a-thon last year, combining with this fine community, brought in $1,155.47, which was for patient aid and research to help those affected by lung damaging diseases. Due to numerous requests we have decided to combine a bike-a-thon and walk-a-thon.
