Residents of Tracy are being advised to boil their drinking water due to water system problems caused by a malfunctioning switch on a water tower valve and leaking pipes in the city’s aging water system. Frank Godburn, member of the Tracy Board of Aldermen, said the boil order is expected to remain in effect until at least Friday, possibly longer. He said residents will be advised through area television stations when the boil order is lifted.
Many curious passers-by stopped last week for a moment to watch construction of the new bridge over the Platte River between Platte City and Tracy take another step forward when huge concrete beams were placed across the pillars. Cranes grabbed each end of the beams and hoisted them up to their resting spot. Construction of the new bridge has been aided by mild winter weather. The new bridge will be considerably higher that the old one. Nov. 15 has been set as the completion date for the project.
Dearborn city officials are looking for an appropriate response to the problem of too much atrazine in their town’s water supply. Dearborn is one of 10 public water supplies in the state cited by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for high levels of the most commonly used weed killer in the country.
