Mr. and Mrs. John N. Porter, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio announce the engagement of their daughter, Kim Marie, of Kansas City, Mo., to Kevin Maurice Bryan of Platte City. The future bride, a member of Phi Mu, is to graduate in May from Northwest Missouri State University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. A member of Delta Chi, her fiancé is to graduate in May from NWMSU with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. The couple plan an Aug. 2 wedding at St. Therese Catholic Church at Parkville.


Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rudder of Platte City announce the birth of their son, Ryan Wade, born on Feb. 23 at the Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville. He weighed seven pounds, 12 ounces. He has two older brothers, J.J. and Adam.

Two Riverside men have been charged with the Feb. 18 armed robbery of Bradford’s Airway Service in Platte City. Facing Class A felony charges are John W. Fitzpatrick, 20, of the 4800 block of Homestead Terrace in Riverside, and Jeffrey S. Shelton, 24, of the same address. The pair are alleged to have robbed station attendant Roger Steele of $80 at gunpoint. Also charged against the two men is an attempted robbery at McCall’s Service Station in Riverside. Shelton and Fitzpatrick are currently being held in the Platte County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bond.
