Platte City Mayor Frank Offutt just finished filling a vacant post on the board of aldermen last month. Now he’s looking to fill another spot. Marsha Clark, an alderman for ward one, submitted a resignation letter to Offutt last week. A press release by the city says Clark made the decision based on a personal business expansion and increased family obligations. Offutt said Tuesday night that he will nominate Charles Cook to replace Clark.

Parkville Mayor Gerry Richardson and the Prince of Parkville Bill Grigsby made Christmas on the River celebration goers laugh Friday night while thanking everyone who came out to the chilly event.

He admits he spent some time pondering, but Gerry Richardson is now ready to move full speed ahead in seeking a second term as mayor of Parkville. Richardson, 54, told The Landmark on Tuesday night of his intention to seek reelection. There had been whispers that Richardson was ready to step aside, and he admits he had given it some thought. “I have outside interests, not business interests but outside interests and for a while I was thinking I would focus on those,” said Richardson, a retired mechanical engineer. Richardson was first elected to a year term in April of 2008, replacing Kathy Dusenbery, who successfully pursued election as first district county commissioner.
