The Platte County High School band was one of more than 80 high school bands in Lawrence on Saturday, Sept. 29 to take part in the 1979 University of Kansas Band Day activities. They marched in a downtown parade Saturday morning and were guests of the university at the afternoon football game between KU and North Texas State. All of the 7,500 band students took part in the musical halftime show. The directors of the band are Penny Snead and Wendell Doyle.


Mrs. Shelley Lindahl of Platte City competed in and won the District 5 competition among Young Career Woman contestants and will now join 18 other young ladies on April 18-20 for state convention where the contestants will speak on the same topic. Shelley is a third grade teacher in the Platte County R-3 School System.

Miss Lori Baker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Baker, Jr., was chosen homecoming queen during festivities last week. The attendants were: junior, Christi Ferrin; sophomore, Shelley Clevenger; and freshman, Jennifer McTaggart. The Platte County Pirates thrilled the large homecoming crowd by shutting out the North Platte Panthers 12-0 Friday night.


Mr. and Mrs. June L. Mason of Camden Point announce the wedding date of their daughter, Tina Ilene, to Raymond Lee Brightwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brightwell of Dearborn.
