Gary Oberdiek, Platte County, has been named to the 1979-80 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He is among 35 students from the University of Missouri-Columbia who have been selected as the country’s outstanding campus leaders. Presenting the certificate is Dr. A. Max Lennon, chairman of the University of Missouri animal husbandry department. Oberdiek joins an elite group of students selected from more than 1,000 institutes of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several nations.


Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Hargis, Camden Point, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Sonia Lynn, to Timothy Lee Overton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Overton, Tracy. Sonia will graduate with the class of 1980 from North Platte High School, Dearborn. She is employed by Nickerson Farms, Platte City. Tom graduated from Platte County R-3 High School, Platte City, in 1979. He is employed by KCI Caters, Kansas City International Airport. A family wedding will take place at the home of the bride’s parents on Saturday, May 3. The couple will make their home in Platte City.
