Five hurt in chain-reaction crash on I-29

Five people suffered injuries in a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in Platte County on Friday night, Sept. 20.

Police have suspect in string of Platte City burglaries

The chain-reaction crash began in the southbound lanes of I-29 at 11:12 p.m. less than a mile north of the KCI airport exit on I-29.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash began when an unknown vehicle struck the rear of a second southbound vehicle, causing it to cross into the northbound lanes and strike the front of a northbound third vehicle, and the third vehicle then struck a northbound fourth vehicle, which overturned.

All injuries were listed as minor in the highway patrol report.

Driver of vehicle number two (2010 Chevy Tahoe) was Michelle R. Miller, 56, of Blue Springs. Driver of vehicle number three (2015 GMC Sierra) was Douglas E. Gerber, 52, of Silver Lake, Kan. Driver of vehicle number four (2004 Honda Pilot), which overturned, was Christopher J. Meirose, 50, of Platte City.

Suffering minor injuries were:
Michelle R. Miller, 56, Blue Springs;
Christopher J. Meirose, 50, Platte City;
Douglas E. Gerber, 52, Silver, Lake, Kan.
Margaret R. Keohohou, 24, Nashville, Tenn., a passenger in vehicle number three;
Coda N. Gerber, 24, Nashville, Tenn.; a passenger in vehicle number three.

Four of the injured were taken to North Kansas City Hospital by the Kansas City Fire Department. Gerber was transported by private vehicle to the same hospital.
