It’s the annual Main Street Fall Festival and it will take place on Thursday evening, Sept. 26 from 5-8 p.m. on Main Street. The event is sponsored by the Platte City Chamber of Commerce.

“We have a lot going on this year,” says Jamie Kacz, executive director for the chamber.

Attendees will have plenty of booths to browse.

“We have 75 unique vendors this year,” Kacz says.

And plenty of food options, as well.

There will be five food trucks on hand: Mama Doe’s Ice Cream, Bryce’s Food Truck, Kona Ice of South Kansas City, Taste of Brazil and Fitti’s Espresso.

“They’ll be offering yummy selections of food, snacks and beverages for purchase,” Kacz remarked.

There will be fun activities for the kids, including a mini pumpkin decorating station in the Farmer’s House courtyard and an inflatable obstacle course set up in front of the Chamber of Commerce office on Third Street. The Reading Rocket Truck will also be set up at Fourth and Main.

Balloon twisters–the Christ Chapel Clowns–will also be on hand.

There will be dancers and other community performers to provide entertainment for the crowds on the street. Performances will run from 5 p.m. to 6:30 and will feature the Platte County High School Treasures Dance Team, Beatnik’s, Harper Haus musicians, Elements, Pirate Cheerleading Club, and Platte County High School Cheer.

The community can help the chamber of commerce support the Northland Kids organization by bringing fruit cups and Pop Tarts. “Each donation will earn a ticket for a chance to win a family four-pack to Main Event,” Kacz explained.

The key to any successful outdoor celebration is a cooperative night from Mother Nature.

“We have our fingers crossed for some beautiful fall weather–last year it was wicked hot,” said Kacz.
