Sharp’s Station Bridge on Interurban Road will continue to be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays while McDougal Construction tries to remove the huge pile of Platte River flood debris and silt lodged by one pillar. So far McDougal has directed a high pressure pump on the pile to wash silt back into the river and a crew is now cutting up logs wedged in the pile to float downstream. The pileup has forced most of the river flow into the right channel. A demolitions expert determined that explosives cannot be used to dislodge the pile because of the way it is constructed.
