Three charges of felony stealing have been filed against Platte County Public Administrator John L. Bless. The charges allege Bless misappropriated money from guardianship funds that he oversees. The charges, which were filed on Tuesday in Platte County Circuit Court, stem from checks written on the accounts on March 10. The public administrator is an elected official who manages the affairs of aged, indigent or mentally incompetent persons without family or friends to care for them.

Total cost of the proposed building project at Platte County R-3 will be in the neighborhood of $4 million to $4.5 million, Superintendent Don Siegrist said. When the recommendation from the R-3 Facility Committee was first made public a few weeks ago, it was reported that the committee had estimated the cost at around $3.5 million. Siegrist said a more accurate estimate of the cost, at this point is the $4 million to $4.5 million range.
