A testimonial dinner will be held May 12 honoring Secretary of State James C. Kirkpatrick, J.W. Brown, Jr., Harrisonville newspaper publisher and chairman of Missourians for Kirkpatrick, announced today. Nationally known Kansas City sportscaster Bill Grigsby will serve as master of ceremonies.


The Platte City Park and Recreation Board will operate the Platte City Swimming Pool this summer if they can acquire 225 family memberships at $75 per family. The Platte County Court has agreed to lease the pool property to the City of Platte City at the cost of $1 per year for three years with the possibility of a two-year extension. The Platte City Park and Recreation Board has discussed the project and has started necessary plans and paperwork based on the 225 membership goal.

Mr. and Mrs. Salvador Evangelista, Jr., of San Paulo, Brazil, announce the birth of their son, Paulo Edwardo, on April 17, 1979. Salvador was an AFS student at the Platte City High School from 1967-68 and lived with the Tom Swaney family.


Mrs. Tom Nighswonger has returned home from St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City where she had foot surgery. She is recuperating nicely.
