The Platte County Commission Thursday authorized a sales tax for law enforcement to be placed on the ballot in the June 8 election. Wording of the ballot for the special election: Question: Shall the County of Platte, Missouri, impose a county sales tax at the rate of one-half of one percent for the purpose of increasing law enforcement services in the county?” Voters will be asked to punch yes or no. A simple majority is required for passage. The commissioners took action following a recommendation from a jail advisory committee to proceed with the law enforcement sales tax by putting it on the ballot.
The Platte City Board of Alderman and Parks and Recreation will be holding a public hearing at 7 p.m. on April 28 at the City Hall to discuss the intent to purchase park ground through a grant from the department of Natural Resources. Future park planning will also be a topic of discussion. Because citizens input is important, attendance is encouraged.
Members of the cast were pictured for the North Platte High School spring play “Wizard of Oz.” The play, complete with a dog playing Toto, will be presented at the high school gym in Dearborn this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
