Rudy Fleshman, cubmaster of Pack 401, Camden Point, and assistant scoutmaster Troop 640 recently received his Sachem recognition in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Rudy has been in scouting over 20 years and has camped at Osceola for many years. He is now a member of the tribal council which makes decisions regarding tribal matters. The Tribe of Mic-O-Say is an honor camping group of the H. Roe Bartle Scout reservation.


Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jones, Mrs. Brenda Williams and Beverly have returned home from a nice visit with Ethel Jones at Millington Naval Base, Tennessee.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren H. Byrd were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Methodist Church in Dearborn. The family reunion and basket dinner was enjoyed by 70 relatives and friends and was hosted by their daughters, Mrs. LeRoy Brooks, Louisburg, Kan. and Miss Ruth Ann Byrd of the home. Warren and Laurindia were married in Maysville on Aug. 18, 1927. They have lived in the Dearborn area for the past 25 years, previously residing in Plattsburg. Mr. Byrd retired seven years ago from Halferty Brothers Elevator. Mrs. Byrd worked there as a secretary.


The Community Club and their families enjoyed a picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guthrie Cockrill last week.

Ivan Foley, longtime owner/publisher of the Platte County Landmark, is a past winner of the national Gish Award for courage, tenacity and integrity in rural journalism, presented by the Institute for Rural Journalism and Community Issues at the University of Kentucky. He lives in Platte County not far from KCI Airport.
