Congressman Sam Graves and Congressman John Mica of Florida toured new security measures at Kansas City International Airport on Tuesday. The two were also introducing new screening methods as well as reminding travelers about the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) new “3-1-1” rules. “KCI is a model for TSA operations in the nation,” said Mica, who is the top Republican on the House Transportation Committee. “Years ago this airport was termed ‘airport from hell’ because of the configuration but it is one of the most secure now.”
On Friday, the City of Parkville officially moved into a new City Hall built in the Parkville Commons near the Platte County Community Center. With 24,000 square feet, the new City Hall nearly doubles the area for office space available at the previous City Hall. The new building also allows all of the city officials to be in one location.
Over 100 people turned out for the Platte City Memorial Day service held at the Platte City Cemetery at Fourth and North Streets. The service featured Jay Wells, colonel in the U.S. Army, as the main speaker. Wells spoke on the importance of remembering all veterans on Memorial Day.
The Platte City swimming pool is set to have repairs finished on plumbing problems by Tuesday May 29 and open by Wednesday.
