Officers were called to the scene after the break-in was discovered at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26.

Joe Wellington, police chief, said based on surveillance cameras, authorities believe there were two perpetrators involved in the burglary. Police said the burglars gained entry into the building by breaking the glass out of a door on the east side (facing I-29) of the building, not far from the drive-through window.

Wellington declined to provide details on how the burglars gained access into the safe.

“We are looking at this possibly being connected to several similar break-ins in the metropolitan area,” the police chief said, drawing the possible connection from the fact the burglaries are “similar in the way they were carried out.” He did not want to provide specifics on the similarities.
