Nellie Coffey will be retiring April 3 as postmaster at Camden Point. Mrs. Coffey has served since 1952 as a clerk and became postmaster in 1985. A retirement reception will be held Sunday, April 12 from 2-4 p.m. at the Camden Point Community Center at the corner of Third Street and Interurban Road.


Two candidates will seek the ward three alderman post in the April 7 election in Platte City. They are Larry Leachman and Cecil Barton.

Kim Michelle Gilliland of Platte City and Jody Allen Morris of Elwood, Kan. have announced their engagement. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Gilliland of Platte City. The parents of Jody are Mr. and Mrs. Perry A. Morris of Elwood.


Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kalousek of Platte City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 14 at the home of their son, Dan Kalousek.


Tom and Mary Gerant, Smithville, are the parents of a new baby boy. He has been named John Michael. John Michael was born on March 6, 1992.


Tim and Ann Suarez of Weston are the parents of a girl, Lily Ann, born on March 1, 1992.
