A new bank is on the way in Platte City. Set to open in mid-February is a North American Savings Bank location at 2707 NW Prairie View Road in Platte City. Hours of operation are scheduled to be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ryan Johnson has been named branch manager for Platte City. Robinson joined North American Savings Bank in 2003 and is ready to bring his customer service skills to the Platte City area. Local resident Kim Mizell has been named head teller.


A notice of a burning violation will be issued to the City of Platte City as a result of a recent burn of construction materials at Platte Ridge Park. Karl Pett, regional director for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, said DNR will be issuing the citation to the city’s parks and recreation department.

A pickup truck crashed into a moving train as the truck crossed the tracks last Thursday morning in Parkville near Hwy. 9. There is no railroad crossing gate located there since the tracks are on private property. This was the first train-related accident in Parkville since 1999 when a car derailed spilling coal into the downtown streets.


Platte County’s proposed budget for 2007 shows employees of the county will receive a three percent cost of living salary increase. Also getting a three percent raise are officeholders who are beginning a new term.
