Man taken to hospital for evaluation
A stand-off of about five hours ended without violence on Monday in southern Platte County.
The incident began shortly after 11 a.m. when a resident in the 6000 block of 48th St. in the Misty Woods subdivision was allegedly yelling and screaming at a neighbor while holding a weapon. When officers arrived at the scene the man was in his house and yelled to officers that he had a weapon and told them to get off his property. The Platte County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Team then responded to the scene.
“The Crisis Negotiation Team was able to talk him out,” Sgt. Mark Overton told The Landmark.
Overton said the man, approximately 50 years of age, exited the residence without further incident about 4 p.m. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, Overton said.
No charges have yet been filed in the incident as of Wednesday morning.
