Chief Petty Officer Randy Lane and Julia of Platte City have announced the birth of their son, Jeremy Michael. Paternal grandparents are Bert Lane and Jeanne Timms. Maternal grandparents are Michael Layton and Nancy Layton. Maternal great-grandmother is Nannie Tinder.


Don Siegrist, Platte County R-3 superintendent, recently welcomed Greg Frost to the district. Frost has been hired as the new R-3 High School principal to succeed Dr. Mark Harpst, who has accepted the post of superintendent at West Platte.

Platte City Mayor Steve Wegner signed a document officially proclaiming Tuesday, May 7 as National Teacher Day in Platte City. Platte County R-3 School District teachers who observed the event included Gay Lei Brown, Paula Robert, Dianne Nespory and Earl Soetaert.


Bob Booth of Platte City has announced that he and his wife, Sandy, have sold their local car dealership, Airport Ford, to R.R. Anderson of Topeka, Kan. Anderson, owner of an RV dealership in Topeka, will change the name of the local Ford dealership, located at I-29 and Main Street in Platte City, to Anderson Ford.
