The annual fall concert for the Platte County R-3 High School vocal music department will be held Thursday night at 7:30 in the high school gym. Vocal director Mark Cutler said the mixed chorus, madrigal jazz choir, girls sextet, concert choir and swing choir will perform a wide variety of styles and literature.


A new building recently built at Main Street and Second Street in Platte City features Boyd Mackey’s auto sales and Phi Carter’s firearms and accessories store.

The Pirates have come a long way this season. A season that started with a humbling loss at Plattsburg has turned into one that the players and coaches at R-3 will remember for a long time, thanks to a 21-14 victory over favored Kearney in a game that decided the Class 3A District 16 championship Friday night in Platte City.


Democrats swept all county offices in Platte County in the recent election.


The Platte County Commission Thursday approved a resolution separating the Platte County Health department from the county on the LAGERS retirement program. “Now they can negotiate their own benefits,” Chuck Reineke, western district commissioner explained.
