Take a break, Missouri Legislature and such

Vice President JD Vance dropped the National College Football Championship trophy last week and then shook hands with the Pope, who promptly died. President Dandy Donald Trump touched the economy and nearly scared us into a full-blown depression. Together, they nearly had to WWE the President of Ukraine in the Oval.

I’m starting to feel like JD and Don should not touch anything for a few days. Just back off, take a few days. This is when they could learn something from Sleepy Joe. Go to a beach in Delaware or something, let the staff oversee this thing for a few days until all this calms down. Trust the process. The Deep State has been running this place for years, surely, they can manage a couple of more days.

The Missouri legislature has been busy trying to get laws and such passed to help you and/or control your life. According to legiscan.com, Missouri has set a record in 2025, but I’m a little skeptical that more proposed laws is progress. In the 2025 legislative session, 2,667 bills have been introduced. That seems like a lot of proposed regulation to me.

So far, only 12 of those bills have been completed, so they’re batting somewhere close to the Kansas City Royals, minus Bobby Witt. For comparison in 2024 there were 2601 bills filed and 52 got completed.

You should probably be pleased with the lower average of bills filed to completed. I’m one of the approximately 15 people in the state of Missouri who pay attention to the state legislature, and I am usually relieved when they adjourn for the summer without passing many of the bills, you probably should be as well.

Netflix has a new documentary out on the Oklahoma City bombing that I am told is interesting and well done. It reminds me to tell you that the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum is one of the most moving exhibits that I have ever been to. It’s a highly recommended visit for anyone that has not been. Incredibly sad but a well-done tribute to the victims and survivors of that horrible event.

The top Missouri sponsor of bills is Rep. Bennie Cook from the Rolla area. Bennie has sponsored 36 bills, assuming that none of them dealt with killing trees. Sen. Nick Schroer has sponsored 62 bills. He is from St. Charles area. The top five bill sponsors on both sides of the house are all Republicans.

Honestly, Vice President Vance should probably also learn something from former President Joe Biden. You may not remember this, but Biden was vice president for eight years. Yes, really!

No one really knew it and that is probably the clearest path to become president, but I’m no political strategist. I think the house they give them is nice, maybe quit showing up to things and enjoy the new place for a few years and then emerging as the leading presidential candidate in 2027.

Anyway, have your people call my people if you need any national political advice.
