Unseasonably mild weather has helped the progress of construction on the new Hwy. 92 bridge across the Platte River at Platte City/Tracy. The construction of the bridge substructure is “right on schedule” according to Missouri Highway and Transportation Department resident engineer Tom Markaway. The bridge is scheduled for completion on Nov. 15.
The Park Hill Board of Education has tentatively reached consensus to move forward on recommendations by the administration to identify an architect and site for a second high school in the school district, to be open by the fall of 1998. A formal vote on the issue is scheduled to take place at the board’s regularly scheduled meeting set for Jan. 26.
Platte County R-3 High School forensics competitors made a very successful showing at a recent tournament held at Lexington High School, overall placing fifth out of 13 schools competing.
The public is invited to attend a “Roast and Toast” honoring Doris Gerner on her retirement as Platte County clerk. The event is scheduled for Friday, Feb.17 at the KCI Embassy Suites, I-29 and Tiffany Springs Road, Kansas City in Platte County.
