There will be a Cherry Bomb on the courthouse lawn. But this one is musical.
The final of three summer concerts in front of the Platte County Courthouse in Downtown Platte City is set for this Saturday, Aug. 10 beginning at 7 p.m. when the band Cherry Bomb takes the stage.
The concerts are part of the Platte City Friends of the Arts annual Summer Concert Series in Downtown Platte City on the courthouse square. Concerts are held the second Saturday during the months of June, July and August. Events run from 7-9 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.
Cherry Bomb is a locally popular band that plays in many venues throughout the Kansas City area.
“Featuring two lovely and talented female vocalists, four amazing musicians, your favorite, irresistible dance hits, and energy that could cause spontaneous human combustion, Cherry Bomb will ignite you and get your booty shaking with the best hits of the decades,” the band says on its website.
At each summer concert event, Connections Bank provides free bottles of water and frozen treats, plus handheld fans. Organizers say a food truck and ice cream truck have been invited to each concert.
A “pop-up” car show is also part of the evening. The ‘pop up’ car show welcomes anyone to park their classic or “proud to show” vehicle on Main Street within the street closure barriers.
