The local economy may not exactly be booming, but the combination of general sales tax receipts plus income from the use tax still shows Platte County is ahead of where it was in the combined categories last year. Figures obtained from Platte County Auditor Siobhann Williams indicate the county’s combined total sales and use tax collections total $7,816,612 through August receipts. Williams says that’s 3.6% higher than it was at this time last year.

The Weston Board of Aldermen discussed several construction projects. The first project is repair and remodeling of the police station along Thomas Street. Currently the building’s roof has several large holds and is planned to be replaced. During the replacement of the roof, the police department will have to be relocated. Gregg Hoffman, mayor, said he was trying to get a complete list of what the police department will need when they are relocated to a meeting room above the public works department.
