Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Parkinson, Idaho Falls, Idaho, have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Kristy Jo, to Jason Keith Strickland, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.K. “Pete” Strickland of Platte City. The future bride is a graduate of Bonneville High School, Idaho Falls and is currently an elementary education major at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Strickland is a 1989 Platte County High School graduate and an international business major at BYU. He has completed a two-year mission for the LDS church in Seoul, Korea. The couple will be married July 29 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They will be honored at an open house at the Strickland home on Aug. 5.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of Ed and Jennie Zygmontowicz with an informal reception. Ed and Jennie met while serving in the U.S. Army Air Force while stationed at Rapid City, South Dakota and were married on base on July 1, 1944.
Doris Gerner, county clerk for Platte County, administered the oath of office to Janet Waddell last Friday. Waddell is now the public administrator for Platte County. Waddell, appointed by Gov. Mel Carnahan, will serve until the general election in November. She replaces John Bless, who resigned June 1 and is facing three felony theft charges.
