A Kansas City firefighter has been charged with urinating on a co-worker’s property at the fire station near Kansas City International Airport.
Pleaze Robinson III was charged with the felonies of first degree harassment and first degree property damage as the result of a Sept. 10, 2023 incident.
Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd said, “The allegations in this case are disturbing. It’s very troubling that a firefighter who is supposed to serve the public is accused of harassing a co-worker in such a distressing way.”
According to court documents, on Sept. 10, 2023, a KCFD medic reported that a CD player, boogie board, and medic training books had been urinated on. The items were located in a medical storage closet that the medic had converted into a small office space. The damaged items were valued at nearly $3,000.
At about 9:30 that evening, the medic noticed a strange smell in the office space, which she then realized was urine. The items were wet, and when she soaked some of the liquid up with a white paper towel, the towel turned yellow.
The medic had recently returned to the firehouse after being on leave due to an injury. When asked by investigators about possible suspects, the medic told investigators she had encountered previous issues with Robinson and another firefighter.
Investigators collected the items and packaged them in biohazard bags for testing at the Kansas City Police Crime Laboratory, where liquid found with the CD player was tested for DNA. According to court records, the DNA results allegedly provided very strong support that Robinson contributed that DNA.
Robinson, age 57 of Kansas City, was charged with first degree harassment for allegedly purposely causing emotional distress to the victim. He was also charged with property damage. Both crimes are class E felonies, punishable by up to four years in prison. A warrant has been issued for Robinson’s arrest; bond is set at $10,000.
The case is being investigated by the Kansas City Police Department. It is being prosecuted by Joseph Findley, assistant prosecuting attorney.
