EDITOR:
I recently had the chance to meet Dale Brouk while him and his wife were out collecting signatures for his campaign, along with another person whose name I cannot remember. I only talked with him for a short time, but he seemed willing to listen and talk honestly with people about the future of Platte County and what we need.
During our talk, Dale told me he supports the children’s services program and understands that it would take more tax money to make it happen. I appreciated him being honest about that. Dale seemed willing to talk about the need for more public funding.
He also talked about his ties with people in Parkville goverment and the support he has gotten from local leaders, including the mayor. Those leaders have supported things like free rides for citizens and other public services. Parkville provides a lot of services for its community, and I believe part of what makes it that way is that they are inclusive of all people and provide helpful services for them.
Of course, these kinds of services cost money. But they can make a real difference in people’s everyday lives, especially for children, seniors, and families who may need some help now and then.
What I liked most about Dale was that he did not seem afraid to talk about putting money into more services for the public. Platte County is a wealthy county, and we need leaders who will look close at what services are needed and how we can all do our fair share to help each other.
Other counties and cities do more for their citizens than Platte County does right now. I would like to see our county become a place that offers more help, more support, and more services for the people who live here.
Extra taxes can be worth it when they help build a stronger, more inclusive and diverse, and more caring community. Based on my conversation with Dale Brouk, he seems like the kind of leader who is willing to help move Platte County in that direction.
