With 15 years experience in the Platte County Collector’s Office and holding the title of assistant chief deputy, Holly Cayer has announced her candidacy as county collector.

Holly is a 33-year resident of Weston and a West Platte graduate. After graduation she attended Missouri Western State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

She has been married to her husband, Gregory, for 23 years and they share two children. Gregory has worked for Herzog Contracting Corp for 21 years, their daughter is attending Missouri Western State University and their son is a sophomore at West Platte High School.

Holly Cayer brings unmatched experience, deep institutional knowledge and a steady hand to the responsibilities of the position. During one of the most historically challenging tax years in recent memory, Cayer helped to ensure that statutory duties were carried out with precision and transparency, all while working to add the Senior Tax Credit to the tax statements.

She was also instrumental in implementing LiveChat to assist taxpayers online and streamlining office processes to make them digitally accessible.

Looking ahead, as tax reform measures continue to introduce new programs and operational adjustments, the importance of experienced leadership cannot be overstated. With a comprehensive understanding of the office’s responsibilities, Holly Cayer is uniquely positioned to guide the office through continued change from tax relief programs. Cayer is committed to ensuring full compliance, operational excellence, and reliable service to the community.

“I look forward to leading the collector’s office with integrity, accountability and a relentless focus on doing the job right,” Cayer stated. “Complex problems don’t intimidate me, they motivate me. I believe taxpayers deserve leadership that is steady, informed, and prepared to protect their interests no matter the challenge. I support the tax breaks being afforded to citizens and will continue to adjust tax bills accordingly.

“As I seek election, I plan to continue operating the office of collector with excellence, confront complex issues head-on and safeguard the financial interest of Platte County citizens. There is important work to be done, and I am ready to serve with the experience and dedication this office demands. I would be honored to earn your trust and support.”

Sheila Palmer, the current Platte County Collector of Revenue, had this to say, “I fully endorse Holly Cayer in her election campaign. With her 15 years of job experience, knowledge of tax procedures and the ability to get the job done, I feel the office will be in good hands as I step down. The office of collector is not one to be taken lightly, with continued changes to Missouri tax laws, growing office responsibilities and streamlining office procedures with the newest technology, this job is constantly evolving. I am grateful for my years as your Platte County Collector of Revenue and your continued support, but it’s time for someone else to take the reins, and that person is Holly Cayer.”
