SAYS SHE WILL PROTECT VOTERS’ RIGHTS
Mary McKenna has announced her candidacy for Platte County Presiding Commissioner, saying she is dedicated to ensuring that every resident has a voice and proper representation.
“With a lifetime of experience in the communications industry, I excel at connecting with people and have consistently been an advocate for our community. If elected, I will work alongside you to preserve and enhance one of the most cherished regions in the Show-Me state,” she said.
“Having proudly called Platte County home for over 40 years, I am deeply committed to serving as your presiding commissioner. My emphasis will be on accountability and transparency, fighting not just for my family and friends, but for every citizen in our county,” McKenna remarked.
“I will also honor the will of the voters,” she added.
In November 2024, Platte County voters overwhelmingly approved a quarter cent children’s mental health sales tax to enhance counseling and therapy services for children and support children’s emotional well-being. In December 2024, the Platte County Commission disregarded that vote and refused to implement the tax.
“I will respect the voters and work with others on the commission to implement that,” McKenna said.
“Platte County is one of Missouri’s fastest-growing counties. It is vital that we keep pace with our remarkable expansion and preserve our excellent quality of life. It will be challenging, but I firmly believe we can address it together by fostering integrity and moving beyond divisive partisan politics. Collaboration with my fellow commission members will be essential as we work to maintain our roads and parks and ensure robust support for our law enforcement agencies,” she stated.
“Together, we can create a brighter future for Platte County,” McKenna said.
