Leonard Hendricks, public works director for the City of Platte City, had to be extricated from his vehicle after it was struck in the driver’s door by a Ford Taurus this morning (Wednesday) about 8:45. Hendricks’ neck was stabilized with help from Central Platte Fire Chief Larry Bigus, who climbed into the back seat of Hendricks’ Chevrolet HHRS while emergency personnel worked to free him from the front. Hendricks was traveling eastbound on Main when a vehicle driven by Joshua Hance of Platte City proceeded into the intersection southbound on Second Street and struck Hendricks’ vehicle. Hance told police he did not see Hendricks’ vehicle due to the sun. Hendricks was taken to North Kansas City Hospital.

The Parkville AdHoc Economic Development Committee asked the Parkville Board of Aldermen for $20,000 per year in city funds and office space at City Hall for an EDC executive director beginning early next year. AdHoc EDC member Jim Allen, who is president of The National Parkville Commons Developments, posed the question at the end of an economic development strategic plan presentation given prior to Tuesday night’s regular meeting. Allen said the executive director would be paid $60,000 per year, including benefits.
