The Michael E. Layton family was selected as the Platte County State Fair Farm Family. Farm families were selected by the Platte County University of Missouri Extension Council on the basis of those engaged in a good farm operation and active in their community. Mr. and Mrs. Layton have five children: Michael, Nancy, Julie, Trudy and Troy.
Seven Missouri lawyers have been newly elected to two year terms on the board of governors of The Missouri Bar and eight members have been reelected to two year terms. Robert F. Deis, Platte City, was reelected to the Young Lawyers Section.
Phyllis White from Platte County took part in a Washington D.C. Citizenship Washington Focus, a week long experience in citizenship and leadership training at the National 4-H Center.
John B. Pepper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pepper of Platte City, has been named executive director, marketing services for Farmland Industries, Inc., Kansas City, Mo.
Teresa Bilyeu, Springfield, was crowned 1980 Missouri State Fair Queen. She was entered as Christian County Fair Queen. She is a 19-year-old music student at Southwest Missouri State University.
