Mr. and Mrs. Max C. Spencer of Platte City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, March 12 with a family get-together. They were married March 13, 1945 at Annunciation Church in Kansas City, Mo. Their children are Theresa Raney, Platte City; Lawrence Spencer, San Jose, Calif.; Mary Dickhut and Beth Whited, Kansas City; Nora Super, Overland Park, Kan.; John Spencer, Kansas City; and the late Steven Spencer. They have 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The new county commissioners have moved a plaque featuring the official Platte County seal from the courthouse to outside the county commission meeting room in the administration building. The plaque includes the seal itself with an explanation of what the symbols in it mean and a poem written by Rev. W.R. Tucker. The seal shows several symbols encircled by a gold rope which “represents the continuing spirit of the intellect and culture, through the years, invested and shared in the lives of the citizens and organizations of Platte County.”
