United in marriage Aug. 20, 1994 at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel, Park College were Sarah Elizabeth Donnelli of Platte City and Kevin Lindsay Hampl of Kansas City, Kan.


It was mostly “toast” and very little “roast” at the retirement celebration honoring former Platte County Clerk Doris Gerner Friday night. Nearly every “roaster” prefaced his or her comments with sentiments similar to Bob Wright’s, who said “how hard it is to roast such a good girl.” Nonetheless, friends, family and former coworkers who gathered to honor Gerner laughed and enjoyed hearing stories about one of Platte County’s best-liked and most-respected figures.

Larry and Mary Hohimer of Ferrelview announce the engagement of their daughter, Shawn Hohimer, of Smithville, to Tony Roetman of Smithville. The couple will be married September 16, 1995 at Christ Chapel of the Assemblies of God Church, Platte City.


Jean Ann Coons, who has served as city clerk of Platte City since November, has resigned. Coons’ last day in City Hall was Tuesday, Mayor Pearl Brown said on Wednesday morning. Coons has left to take a job as a paralegal.
