IN ABANDONED TRAILER AT DEARBORN
A 25-year-old man remains in custody in the Platte County Jail, charged with assaulting another man with an adjustable wrench. The assault allegedly occurred in an abandoned mobile home at Dearborn.
Mark H. Emmons is charged with second degree felony assault. Court documents do not list an address for Emmons.
The alleged assault occurred on Dec. 14. Deputies responded to a call from a possible witness about an assault, and when authorities arrived they made contact with the victim on the scene. The victim told authorities Emmons had attacked him after the victim had consumed a beer. The victim told deputies Emmons had attacked him with an object similar to a wrench.
Court documents say the victim had obvious injuries to his head, and the injuries were bleeding. Court documents indicate the victim was later treated at a hospital for multiple injures to his scalp, which required staples to close the wounds.
Emmons had fled on foot after the alleged assault, and was later taken into custody in Buchanan County.
Platte County authorities say initial efforts to locate Emmons with a drone and on the ground were unsuccessful.
The victim had told authorities Emmons broke the victim’s glasses during the assault. According to court papers, half of a pair of broken Ray-Ban glasses, an adjustable wrench with what appeared to be blood on the handle as well as a hammer with what appeared to be blood on the handle were found in the abandoned trailer.
Emmons was booked into the Platte County Jail on the night of Dec. 14 and remains there, being held on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
He has been approved for a public defender. A court appearance in his case is set this week for a preliminary hearing and a bond review.
