Truman V. Glenn announces a new name for his store in Downtown Platte City effective Jan. 1, 1980. The store will be known as Truman’s Clothing Mart. The business has been known as Bartlett and Glenn Mercantile Co. since its beginning three and a half years ago. Mr. Glenn said he purchased Merle Bartlett’s interest in the business last March but is just now getting around to changing the name. The two men have 80 years of business experience between them, Bartlett has 45 years and Glenn has 35 years.
Norman G. Pearson, superintendent of West Platte R-2 School District for 10 years has submitted his resignation to become effective July 1 of next year. No replacement has been announced and Pearson has not made any future plans.
Landmark publisher Dwayne Foley announced that Van Buckley has been hired as managing editor for the 115-year-old newspaper. A recent graduate of Central Missouri State University, Buckley began working on The Landmark staff Dec. 24. He will be in charge of the news department and will assist in the advertising department.
Midshipman David M. Fox of the Naval Academy, Annapolis arrived home Wednesday for the fall semester vacation and is visiting relatives.
