North Platte will have girls softball team beginning with the 1995-96 school year. The R-1 school board approved adding softball to the district’s sports program at its meeting last Wednesday. Spokesman Jerry Young from the organizing committee told the board that the group had surpassed its original goal of raising $2,750 for uniforms, equipment, tournament and umpire fees.
